Our Legacy/Our Story
Pedal Sri Lanka Charity Ride was initiated by Kieran Michael, a physiotherapist at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. Having lived and worked in Sri Lanka in 2016, Kieran had a deeply positive experience and wanted to give back to the community.
During a visit to Sri Lanka with his family—his father, Wesley, was born in Colombo, and they visit regularly—they toured Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital in Colombo. While there, they were invited to observe the operating theatre and witnessed a shortage of medical resources and growing surgical waitlists, particularly for children.
